New Publication: Dupilumab for Nasal Polyps – Treatment Success Independent of Prior Sinus Surgery
We're back after a longer summer break — it's been quiet here since May, but we certainly haven't been idle! 🌿 Refreshed and recharged, we have plenty to share, with more posts on our latest research coming up in the weeks ahead.
Kicking things off is a new study from our team — carried out under the senior authorship of rhinologist Sven Schneider — examining the long-term effects of dupilumab in chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP).
Consistent efficacy regardless of prior surgery
The study followed 224 patients for up to 4.5 years. A key finding: dupilumab led to significant improvements in symptoms, polyp size, and sense of smell — regardless of whether patients had undergone prior sinus surgery. Neither the number of previous surgeries nor the presence of N-ERD (NSAID-exacerbated respiratory disease) had a meaningful effect on treatment outcomes.
The study contributes valuable insights from clinical practice to modern rhinology and the treatment of nasal polyps.
